Teaching English in China Tianjin City Guide When it comes it comes to teaching English abroad this year, China is where itâs at. And guess what? No previous teaching experience or a teaching license is required! With one of the fastest-growing ESL job markets in the world and over 300 million students currently learning English in China, thereâs no shortage of awesome job opportunities out there for new grads with a degree in any major, as well as licensed teachers looking to make the big move overseas. While in the past, cities like Beijing or Shanghai tended to be more popular spots for expat teachers, thatâs quickly changing. That said, Chinaâs a pretty big place. We know that researching and deciding where to teach abroad can feel a little overwhelming - with Teach Awayâs Explore Program, for examples, hiring schools are located all over the country. Over the next few weeks on the blog, weâll be highlighting some of the top cities to teach English in China. From the average cost of a cup of tea to what you can expect to pay to rent an apartment, keep reading to discover everything youâll need to know about living and working in China. First up on the list is Tianjin - a bustling seaside urban center thatâs full of cultural charm! Living in Tianjin As a major economic hub and cultural center in northern China, Tianjin is a modern port city with a growing expat community. Known for its great economic opportunities, and more laid-back lifestyle than neighboring Beijing, Tianjin is a perfect place to experience Chinese culture in a friendly and metropolitan city. Climate Tianjin is close to the ocean and has a relatively continental climate, experiencing a cool, dry winter and a hot, rainy summer. Average temperatures during the summer generally fall around 79 degrees Fahrenheit (26 degrees Celsius), while average temperatures in the winter are around 25 degrees Fahrenheit (-4 degrees Celsius). Transport Like many other urban centers in China, Tianjin has a number of different transportation options to choose from. Since driving in the city can be hazardous for non-locals, itâs recommended that you take advantage of the many other options that are offered. Taxis. Taxis in Tianjin are generally easy to come by and flag down when in the downtown core and fares stay the same regardless of day or night. One helpful tip - make sure you donât get overcharged for longer distance trips like to and from the airport. Keep an eye on the meter to ensure you never overpay! Taxi Cost (on average, incl. initial fee) ¥10 - ¥15 ($1.48 - $2.22 USD) Trains. Tianjin is a major railway stop in northern China and has many lines running throughout the city, as well as to other locations. Tianjin Railway Station, the largest station in the city, also has bullet train services to and from Beijing. The subway is a popular mode of transportation within the city, and lines run throughout the downtown core. Tianjin subway fares are based on distance and increase with the length of time you spend on the train. Expats from North America will find Tianjin transit fares much easier on the wallet than those back home. Tianjin Subway Fares: Less than 5 stops ¥2 ($0.30 USD) 6 - 10 stops ¥3 ($0.44 USD) 11 - 16 stops ¥4 ($0.59 USD) 17+ stops ¥5 ($0.74 USD) Buses. For travel outside of the city, long-distance buses are available, making it easy to explore areas outside of the city during your spare time. Most of these buses travel to cities in other Chinese provinces such as Hebei, Shanxi, Inner Mongolia, and Jiangxi. City buses are also available downtown as an additional option to a taxi or the subway. The network of bus routes is extensive and can take you to all areas of the city. Inner city routes cover the downtown area of the city, while suburban lines will take you to areas outside the downtown core. There are even special sight-seeing buses if you want to sit back, relax and view some of Tianjinâs famous landmarks! Inner-city bus lines ¥1 ($0.15 USD) for trips under 12 km (7.5 miles) ¥1.5 ($0.22 USD) for trips over 12 km Suburban bus lines ¥1 ($0.15 USD) for the first 10 km (6.2 miles) ¥0.50 ($0.05 USD) for each additional 5 km (3 miles) Food As a multicultural city, Tianjin has a great mix of authentic Chinese restaurants as well as a large number of options from other global cuisines! Nanshi Food Street is a great spot to try traditional local dishes and some with a Western twist. Outdoor markets and vendors can be commonly seen during the summer months, and are generally less expensive than getting food from a restaurant. It may take some searching, but you can definitely find some hidden treasures that are inexpensive - and delicious! Meal @ inexpensive restaurant ¥20 ($2.96 USD) Meal @ mid-range restaurant for 2 people ¥120 ($17.77 USD) Cappuccino ¥30 ($4.44 USD) Milk (1 liter) ¥11.40 ($1.69 USD) 1 Dozen Eggs ¥6 ($0.89 USD) Sign up to Teach Away today for access to the latest teaching jobs around the world. Leisure Entertainment There is definitely no shortage of things to do in Tianjin, and most wonât cost you an outrageous amount of money either! Those living in Tianjin seem to prefer a much simpler life to those in other major cities. Itâs common for people to spend the night walking outside or simply catching a meal with friends. Fitness club/gym (monthly) ¥263.33 ($38.98 USD) Movie ticket (single) ¥50 ($7.40 USD) One drink at a downtown club/bar ¥50 ($7.42 USD) Although a popular tourist spot, the Tianjin Eye offers some of the best views in the city and is worth the stop when you first arrive! The famous Great Wall is also close to Tianjin and is, of course, a must-see. Monthly rent Since Tianjin is not a Chinese megacity, rent is generally less expensive than other major cities like Beijing or Hong Kong. Teachers looking to live in the downtown core should have a decent chance of finding more affordable living in Tianjin than neighboring Beijing. One bedroom apartment (in the downtown area) ¥2,950 ($437.84 USD) One bedroom apartment (outside of downtown area) ¥1,700 ($251.67 USD) Internet (monthly) ¥110.75 ($16.44 USD) Thanks to the many job opportunities, friendly locals, a world-class transportation system and many western amenities, cities in China, like Tianjin, are quickly emerging a huge draw for new teacher arrivals looking to learn about a new culture, make some money to travel and experience life in one of the best countries to teach English in. Teach Away Telegram - January 2014
Teach Away Telegram - January 2014 We hope everyone has had a happy start to the new year! This month, weâll give you tips on how to update your resume. Weâll also give an overview of the recent changes to our application system. Finally, our country spotlight for January is Kuwait.Updating Your Resume for the New YearIf you are currently working, when was the last time you updated your resume? Does it accurately reflect all of your accomplishments to date? If you are job searching and havenât been able to land an interview, have you looked closely at your resume to make sure itâs the best it can be?Do your researchItâs important to know what employers are looking for. Browse jobs that interest you, and check out their requirements and preferred skills. You may notice that a greater number of primary schools abroad are looking for teachers with IB experience; that preschools are always seeking Montessori teachers; that principals are asking for proven skills in using new classroom technology. Research what e mployers are looking for, and show how you have these abilities!Highlight specific skills, not dutiesEmployers know that being an Elementary teacher means being âresponsible for a class of over 20 studentsâ â" why waste space writing this on your resume? Focus instead on your implementation of new technology into the classroom, the system you developed to facilitate parent/teacher communication, or the milestones you reached with your students.Condense if necessaryYour resume shouldnât exceed two pages, which can be difficult for teachers with many years of experience. You might want to try grouping relevant experience together instead of listing everything chronologically, or changing the layout of your resume.A well-crafted resume could make the difference in helping you stand out from other international teaching applicants. Find even more resume tips on our site, and give yourself the best chance of being hired in 2014!The New Teach Away Application SystemTeach Away Appli cation PortalLate last year, Teach Away launched a new Application Portal that lets teachers apply directly for positions that interest them. Read on for tips on maximizing the benefits of the new system:When you visit www.teachaway.com, you have the option to Log In directly from the site. It may be less flashy than some of its neighboring countries, but Kuwait provides teachers with the chance to earn a great salary and benefits while experiencing hospitable Middle Eastern culture. The countryâs desert geography means that much of the year is sunny and hot â" very hot! However, winter in Kuwait can be surprisingly cold at night. Many expats wrongly assume that they wonât need their warmer clothing, but youâll want to have a few articles of clothes to keep you warm after the sun sets in the winter months. Most teaching jobs in Kuwait will be located in or around Kuwait City, as much of the rest of the country is a vast expanse of sandy desert. In the city, shopping and dining out are favorite activities (though alcohol is not permitted). Teachers can find nearly any type of foreign cuisine in Kuwait Cityâs many restaurants.Teach Away currently has teaching jobs in Kuwait for certified teachers. Chemistry Tutor Guy - Help Yourself
Chemistry Tutor Guy - Help YourselfIf you are looking for a chemistry tutor guy then I am here to help you. If you are ready to have a chemistry tutor, then you have come to the right place. In this article I will discuss a few options for getting a chemistry tutor and how to get started with finding one.Biology tutors are known as tutors for biology. They specialize in helping people learn the basics of the subject and go through a program of learning to get a certificate to prove that they have learned everything they need to know. Once they receive their certificate, they can apply for graduate school or enroll in a lab school or similar program for further study. As a tutor for biology, you are going to need to first do some background research on each person you choose. Many employers require their applicants to have at least a chemistry tutor background, but there are plenty of companies who do not. To make sure you get a chemistry tutor, make sure that you find out whether they have a college degree or not. This is very important because it will be easy to spot whether or not they are qualified. The second step is to check up on the tutor that you are interested in and make sure that they have a college degree. They should also have a certification from their college or university. If you are serious about getting a tutor, make sure you do a background check on each tutor. Make sure that you don't pay too much and get a wrong tutor.I am not a chemist, but I have been in chemistry tutoring and know what it takes to find a good tutor. When you are choosing a tutor, you should look at their work history. You should ask them if they have any previous experience in biology, because sometimes they have little experience in chemistry. This may be very important because you might want to get a tutor who has experience in different labs and has had the chance to help someone else. Even if they haven't had much experience in biology, it doesn't mean that they are a bad tutor. Many students have a problem in choosing a chemistry tutor. Some people think that a tutor has to be really good at chemistry and other students think that they just need a person to talk them through the concepts. To help make the decision, I recommend using an online chemistry tutor. By using an online chemistry tutor, you don't have to visit a school and meet the tutor face to face. You can choose from online chemistry tutors all over the internet, and with many different chemistry tutor packages.By using an online chemistry tutor, you will be able to get a better teacher than you would if you were meeting the tutor in person. Also, because you can find them all over the internet, you will have a better choice than you would if you were only looking for a tutor in your own community.

What Life Coach Skills Do I Need to Have
What Life Coach Skills Do I Need to Have What Skills are Necessary to be a Life Coach? ChaptersThe Profile of a Life CoachCommunicationsA Word on EthicsLife Coaching Organizational SkillsLife Coaches as MotivatorsContrary to popular belief, life coaches are not extraordinary people. The focus of their duty is not to end world hunger or achieve peace in the Middle East â" or any other geographic location. They are generally not heroes. At least, nothing on their list of professional responsibilities call for them to accomplish heroic deeds. However, nothing is stopping anyone, including a life coach, from heroic deeds if they are warranted and do not put anyone in danger.Life coaches are, for the most part, ordinary people who possess an extraordinary skills set. Those skills, combined with certain human qualities, not only enable people to find their direction in life, but give them license to empower others to orient their lives as theyâve always wanted to.What are those qualities? What are those skills? Do you have them? Would you develop them in order to help others , all while creating a lucrative business for yourself?Your Superprof now outlines the characteristics and skills that good life coaches all have.First of all, find out how you can become a life coach!People are genericised as individuals for a reason: the mode du jour is that everyone is unique, alone in his/her particular personality and their spectrum of likes and dislikes. There is nothing wrong with that! However, there are personality traits and capabilities that prevail among select groups, and life coaches are no different. For example, saying the French U is incredibly difficult for native English speakers; a sound every native French speaker makes with no problem! That is an overly simplistic example of how something as natural as language can identify a segment of the population.A more complicated example is attitude. Some people see doom and gloom everywhere, and some are so sunnily optimistic you wish they would spend time in a lemon grove just so they could become a bit so urer!Of course, the ultimate optimist would just make lemonade...Life coach Bristol training does not emphasise having a positive attitude. However, it does underscore the need for a can-do attitude.Whatâs the difference?Being blindingly optimistic â" having positive expectations simply because you canât believe a situation could turn out badly differs wildly from the anticipation of challenges on the way to achieving results. In a time of great need, do you really want someone to pat your hand and give you platitudes?âEverything will be alright in the endâ is perhaps one of the most self-defeating phrases, because it permits passivity in the face of challenge.A life coach will never tell you to wait till the end of things to see if everything will turn out alright!A life coach will help you recognise and find ways to overcome obstacles that stand between you and your goals.A life coach must necessarily be imbued with a contagious can-do attitude. You should soon become simi larly afflicted.Rather than be clouded by wishes borne aloft in the sky of ephemeral positivity, a person with a can-do attitude is confident and resourceful. They get things done. Thus, an essential characteristic of any life coach London is not a positive attitude but a can-do attitude.Your life skills coach should imbue you with a can-do attitude! Source: Pixabay Credit: PDPCommunicationsThe art of communicating is a two-fold process that involves both speaking and listening. In fact, so important is listening to life coaches that they learn three levels of listening in life coach training!Studies have proven that the majority of people in conversation spend their non-talking time formulating a response; one not necessarily in tune with what their dialogue partner is saying. Most people do not listen with the intent to understand; they listen with the intent to reply â" Stephen CoveyThat being the case, how can anyone expect to be heard?Even if your friends and co-workers describe you as a good listener, that doesnât necessarily represent the listening skills a life coach needs.A life coach is not a good listener but an effective listener.Effective listening means understanding the meaning behind the words: the emotional temperature, the nuances and what is actually being said, along with the intent behind the speakerâs choice of words. When Sherry complained that her friend no longer had time for her, Sam replied: âWell, you know, me and Jason have our own vibe... Weâll try to make time for you soon... how about lunch next week?âWhat Sam was really saying was: âBug off, Lady!âSherry could have saved herself a lot of disappointment by catching on to the sudden, non-apologetic exclusion from a person she thought was a friend, rather than hanging hope on a miserly emotional handout.Of course, a life coach Glasgow is not a relationship coach, but the principle of effective listening remains.Your coach will listen to your ambitions and aspirations, h elp you determine what stands in your way to becoming successful and outline a plan of action to achieve your goals. The second facet of communication, speaking, is also a vital skill all life coaches cultivate.Having an expanded vocabulary does not an effective speaker make. Using the right words at the right time, with the right tone to convey the right meaning is what your personal life coach specialises in.At times encouraging and others motivating, you can always count on hearing exactly what you need to hear from your coach. That doesnât mean it will be what you want to hear!Whether you need encouragement toward your personal growth or empowering in your profession, your life skills coach is dedicated to providing. If you plan to engage a certified life coach to help you scheme your way into a promotion or to capture the love of your life, forget it: s/he is bound by a set of ethics that forbids deceit. What professional coaching will help you with is determining roadblocks tha t stand between you and your goals, with no tricky psychology or unpalatable scheming involved.Anyone with life coach certification knows that working towards a goal without improving yourself in the process makes for hollow victories. The goal of a life coach is to help you vanquish self-doubt so that you can achieve anything. In that sense, your personal goals are actually irrelevant to meaningful personal coaching.More to the point: your fundamental goal becomes being the best you that you can be in order to achieve whatever external goal youâve set for yourself. You'll find your life coach embodies all of these qualities and more! Source: Pixabay Credit: 905513Life Coaching Organizational SkillsYou might think that someone who makes a living by helping people organise their lives would be hyper-organised themselves. That is not necessarily so!Anyone who has undergone a training program to become a life coach will tell you that organization is overrated.Organisation is necessary fo r anyone running a coaching business, but what really matters is their ability to compartmentalise. That means that, should you break down sobbing during your initial consultation with your life coach, s/he would certainly be empathetic, but those feelings have no impact on what they will do to help you.Likewise, should s/he be having a bad day, that attitude would not spill over into his/her work life: you wonât get called names or be shouted at in a fit of anger.Attack the issue, not each other is some of the best advice from relationship coaching, and it also applies to life coaching. Thus your life coach will be completely dedicated to you when working with you. You should never hear âWell, I had this client, once...âNot only would that be a glaring breach of confidence but it would be unethical!Life Coaches as MotivatorsUnlike a sports coach who might be supportive in their coaching, a personal coach keeps you motivated by keeping you in the hot seat.It sounds unpleasant, b ut it is exactly what you retained such a consultant for.Should you engage in coaching sessions, it is because you wish to accelerate your personal development. That puts all of your coachâs focus directly on you; not on any environmental reasons or external variables that would cause you to not reach milestones you laid out for yourself. That being said, do not expect any mentoring from your coach.S/he will not tell you how to do things or even advise you on the proper path to take to achieve the results you desire.S/he will consult with you on a regular basis, to ask if youâve completed any steps on your action plan and, if not, why you havenât.Beware of your answer! You wonât get any sympathy from excuses; your coach is looking for you to succeed! And, once youâve succeeded in achieving the life balance you sought, your formal relationship with your coach is over â" another result of the compartmentalising s/he is so very good at.In summary, the coaching skills and qualit ies taught in every coaching certification program and endorsed by International Coach Federation, the global organisation that directs coaching education, are as follows:Communication skills â" both listening and speakingA can-do attitudemotivation, and the ability to motivate othersEffectiveness: in getting to the root of your goals and the challenges to overcome themEmpowered and empoweringInspiringThese core competencies and other coaching techniques are uncovered and developed during the course of coaching programs taught in the UK and around the world. If you wanted to take a coaching course, rid yourself of limiting beliefs and undergo a transformation in your life, why not become a coach yourself? If youâve always dreamed of helping others you could take part in a few workshops, acquire those coaching tools so you can render coaching services!Talk about a transition to fulfilling your life purpose!See what certification a life coach needs.Check out the training options for life coaching.Look out for resources for life coaches.Ever wondered how a life coach builds up their client-base?

There are three types of tutorial available, each with its advantages and disadvantages: group tutorials, online tutorials, and face-to-face tutorials.Group tutorials are great for those on a budget as you can share the cost of the tutor's time with the other students in attendance. However, you will get less one-on-one time with your tutor and receive more generalised tuition. It could be useful if you're going to Porto with a group of friends, though.Similarly, online tutorials are good if you're on a budget as the tutor doesn't have to travel and can, therefore, charge less per hour. If you both have a webcam and a decent internet connection, you can get Portuguese tutorials from anywhere in the world. Your tutor might even be from Porto. Finally, face-to-face tutorials are between you and the tutor. This is the most costly type of tutorial but it's also the most cost-effective. With these tutorials, you can get bespoke Portuguese lessons and learn exactly what you need to know.
3 Internship Goals to Set Right Now
3 Internship Goals to Set Right Now This post is part of a month-long series to help you start 2018 on the right foot. Throughout January, visit the Varsity Tutors blog for advice, tips, and tricks on how to reignite your passion for learning this winter. Internships can provide college students with the opportunity to gain experience in their desired field before graduation. After landing an internship, its important to focus on getting the most out of the experience. One great way to ensure this? Make a list of goals to accomplish during your internship, such as remaining open to new experiences and taking advantage of networking opportunities. Here are three internship goals to set right now: Internship goal #1: Challenge yourself An internship can offer you the opportunity to practice adaptability and to challenge yourself in new ways. Often, as an intern, you will be asked to perform a variety of taskssometimes with short notice. Dont view this as a negative. Instead, use this as a chance to show your supervisor that you can handle the challenges thrown your way and can provide a quick turnaround on projects. Since an internship can, at times, lead to a full-time position within an organization, illustrate the benefit you would pose to the company by asking questions or volunteering ideas. Show others that you can contribute to the mission of the organization, and that you could be a valuable asset. A challenging internship can keep you on your toes and teach you skills that you can take with you into the job field. Connect with your supervisor, as well as with people in the areas and roles you may be interested in. Use these connections to discover more about the field you are pursuing. If there are other interns at your organization, they are also valuable connections. You can maintain connections with these people, even after the internship has ended, in order to find out about future opportunities. Regardless of your role as an intern within the organization, expanding your professional network is a great benefit.[RELATED: Why You Should Pursue an Internship in College] Internship goal #3: Be honest with yourself At its core, the reasoning for an internship is to gain experience in your field in order to obtain full-time employment upon graduation. Internships, even if they are required by your degree program, are a time to discover what your future career might look like. Be honest with yourself if it is not what you expected, and make any adjustments necessary to your plan. If you have a semester-long internship, and by the end you know this is not the type of job you wish to do upon graduation, thats okay. Internships are learning experiences, and the perfect opportunity to discover your niche in your desired field. On the other hand, if you love your internship and your future career goals are validated, use this knowledge to jumpstart your career plans. Consider applying for another internship, continue to network with professionals in your field, and begin looking into companies you think fit your vision. Before beginning your internship, make a list of goals, including things you hope to accomplish during your experience and any expectations you may have. This will help you to be more present during your experience and effectively evaluate it afterwards. [RELATED:3 Things to Know About College Co-op Programs] Any topics you want to know more about?
